A website that does not provide any interactivity between it and its users. The text and the
images on any given page of the site are "hard coded”. The content is not expected to change
frequently. It is manually maintained by someone.
A website that provides for interaction. There is a database that acts as the engine behind a
dynamic website. A dynamic website has changing information or interacts with the user in some
way.
Think of a domain name as a telephone number. When someone wants to phone you they need your
phone number. The telephone number points to a specific location. Like a telephone number a
domain name is a unique identifier that points to a certain website on the World Wide Web (WWW).
Each computer on the Internet has a unique numeric Internet Protocol (IP) address such as
72.36.146.144. These numbers are not user-friendly and difficult to remember. They also give no
indication as to what this address contains. A domain name is not only a lot easier to remember
but could also indicate what the website contains. For instance: www.movies.com will most probably
contain information about different movies.
In all countries there are Domain Name Servers (DNS), computers that will take the domain name
and look up the relevant Internet Protocol (IP) address and feed this address back to your
computer so that it can connect with the site you wish to visit.

You can use the “
Contact Us” page on this website and request a domain name registration.
What makes up a domain name? Well, technically, the letters in the alphabet (A - Z) and the
numbers (0 - 9) and the hyphen ( - ) may be used and there should be no more than 30 characters
in the domain name.
Having said that, however, it is important to remember that the domain name may be used as part
of the URL to access your web page or as part of an e-mail address. Whether the domain name is
chosen for a Company's presence on the Web or for pleasure, the same guidelines and rules apply.
Remember to choose a short, catchy and easy to remember domain name.
Now that a suitable Domain Name has been selected, it is advisable to check if it is available
for registration by using the domain name search on the
WhoIs page of
the Riptide Technology website.
When you want to do your website hosting with Riptide Technology you need to transfer (move)

us and we will transfer your domain and they will handle everything from there. You can make
use of the “

Riptide Technology does not charge for domain name transfers. We offer our assistance to
